This is so weird. The world on lockdown. My world, anyway.
As my husband takes in the news of the day, I hunker down in my studio with my favorite music-of-the-moment in my headphones. It is slow going. I am distracted and upset by the pain that bleeds through into my sanctuary.
I walk a few steps and glance at the TV screen in the adjoining living room. Oh no. The statistics are grim. I sigh and pull my focus back to the work on my cutting table. Part of me wonders when we will be able to gather for shows again. Part of me wonders … what is the point.
Ah, but that I do know. Art is important. Some of us are creating images that will represent this time in our history. Somewhere an artist is making a masterpiece that will endure because it captures what we all are feeling.
“A masterpiece is defined as the work of an artist who has been absorbed by the spirit of his/her times and can transform a personal experience into a universal one.”

I love that. And I could go on… but this is becoming lengthy post, and a heavy one, which means it is time to stop. Next time!
Well stated.
