“Crop Circles”  55″ x 66″   I’ve always been fascinated by the mysterious “crop circles” that appear overnight in our fields. To tell the story, I chose a palette of neutrals — 8 in all — black, dark gray, medium gray, light gray, navy, dark blue, brown, and white! I challenged myself to use dark values that merge together for the background and to “float” some of the circles off the edge. Quilted by Holly Casey.

At first I didn’t know if I should get excited. How big of a deal was it to have your quilt chosen for this show? I thought Quilts=Art=Quilts was one of the revered shows of the art quilt (aka textile art) world, but it wasn’t until I read the list of other artists in the show that my heart flipped over. Major artists I have stalked for years, bookmarking their blogs and galleries, salivating over their breath-taking, imaginative, other-worldly fabric art, are on the list – the SAME list my name is on!!!!  Holy cow!!!

I’ve been introducing myself as an artist for some time now (2 years?) and starting to feel comfortable with it, but this – this is real validation. Yayyyy!!!

Now…. how to ship it?  Stay tuned….
