I love creating quilts, throwing bits of fabric on the wall and standing back to see what it is becoming. I challenge myself during the piecing process, because even though it can be difficult and frustrating, it is like a puzzle, and I like to figure it out.

Final stitches are completed on this quilt — the things I delay the most – binding, sleeve, label.

Quilting can be fascinating as well — seeing the texture appear on the face of the quilt — and how the movement can enhance the design. There are moments that are difficult — when the thread keeps breaking or I discover a problem — but the result is so worth it, it keeps me going.

maybe I’m just hoping the quilt fairies will visit my studio in the night …

For me, the hardest part is the last few bits, when it’s time to hand stitch the binding, the sleeve, and the label! You’d think after all that work, I would want to finish! But at this point, my quilt usually goes on the shelf to wait until a deadline arrives and I HAVE to get it done. Or maybe I’m just hoping the quilt fairies will visit my studio in the night and finish them for me!
