What would compel someone with intense flying anxiety to get on a plane?
QUILTS.
Quilts?
Yes, quilts…. Art quilts. Abstract quilts. Modern quilts.
It was the opportunity to study with master quilt maker Nancy Crow that lured me out of my comfort zone and into the seat of a commercial airliner flying 600 miles per hour at 35,000 feet.
I had been making improvisational abstract quilts and creating my own designs for several years. But I knew I wasn’t going far enough. I needed to know what was possible, to step beyond the limits of my own design wall and into a world of limitless creativity and confidence.
Ohio, here I come.
